Welcome to Project Moldova
Moldova is an emerging country in Eastern Europe. It is located between Romania and the Ukraine, on the Black Sea. The average monthly income is $100, and there, even a doctor or a lawyer will average only $200 per month.

The population is slightly more than 5 million. Even with that small number, there are over 11,600 children institutionalized in orphanages. Many have no relatives, no family, and no hope. Some are there because their families simply cannot afford to keep them.

At age 16, they leave the orphanage and enter the world, either as students at University, or into the workforce. Moldovan women are particularly known for their beauty, and unfortunately, many young girls are lured away from Moldova under the pretense of getting work, only to wind up as prisoners in the sex trade from the Balkans to Western Europe. Many of the young men wind up involved in low paying work or petty crime.

Originally a major subordinate project of another organization, Project Moldova has grown in scope and is now a 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered in the District of Columbia. It is the plan of its Board of Directors to continue to develop and expand the project to meet the needs of the large population of disenfranchised youth in the Republic of Moldova.

Our Mission: In partnership with the Moldovan Ministry of Education, we work to improve the health and welfare of children in Orphanage-Boarding Schools. We teach children useful skills, provide them with creative outlets, and cultivate individual self worth. By creating a brighter future for the children, we mitigate their risk of exploitation.

Our Vision: Every child is a potential national treasure. By enriching the lives of Moldova's orphans and preserving the country's traditional crafts and culture, we safeguard this treasure for the future.

The Children of Project Moldova
The Children of Moldova are lovely and friendly, and thankfully many European Nations and the United States have been helpful with some infrastructure needs. While they get a generally good education at the Orphanages, what they lack are extracurricular activities of a technical and vocational nature. This is where Project Moldova comes in.
